HISTORY
Rock wool originated quite by accident in the 19th century in Hawaii. A strong wind cooled and dispersed the volcanic lava, creating fluffy fibers with which the local population later covered their huts to protect themselves from the heat. The method for the production of stone mineral wool was first patented in the USA in 1870 and is still based on similar principles: raw materials of mineral origin are melted at high temperature, "lava" is obtained from them, i.e. melt , which is pulled into fibers. These threads are then made into stone wool slabs – the only material that provides both heat and sound insulation as well as fire protection.
WHAT IS STONE MINERAL WOOL AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR?
Stone mineral wool is an insulating material designed for heat, sound and fire protection in construction and industry.
Trends in construction, as well as legal regulations, require a high level of energy efficiency for both new buildings and renovated sites. At the same time, modern construction requires quality, multifunctional materials, preferably of natural origin. Stone mineral wool meets all these requirements and is considered the #1 choice for architects, investors, builders and homeowners.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING STONEWOOL?
Stone wool has excellent thermal insulation properties. Rockwool insulation effectively reduces home heating and cooling bills. Depending on its density, thickness and other properties, it can be installed on roofs, in light partitions, walls, floors and facades. Thermal comfort and indoor air quality are improved. This makes the living environment of the inhabitants healthier.
Stone wool has soundproofing properties. This is just as important as its thermal insulation properties. The noises coming from the neighboring apartments sometimes interfere with the comfort in the home. With proper insulation, you may not hear these unwanted sounds in your daily life and enjoy the peace and quiet.
When thinking about fire safety, don't forget insulation. Stone wool is non-combustible and provides security and fire protection for your home. Fire can quickly get out of control in buildings without proper insulation. Stone wool does not spread fire and does not emit smoke.
Stone wool is a breathable material. The rock wool insulation system allows moisture particles to effectively pass through the walls and insulation. If there is residual moisture in the walls - the breathing system with insulation wool will allow this moisture to pass outside and the walls will be dry. This reduces the risk of mold and bacteria developing in living spaces.
Stone wool retains its properties over time. It does not age /is not an organic material/ and does not need subsequent maintenance, unless it is mechanically damaged. By insulating your home with stone wool, you are making a long-term investment with a quick return.
Stone wool products have EUCEB certification. This certificate is given only to the category "Organic products", by a European certification board. EUCEB certified products are made from fibers that are not classified as hazardous in accordance with EU regulations on the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures.
